(b) if so, whether there is any proposal to construct road over bridges at the said level crossings;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government in this regard ?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS ( SHRI DIGVIJAY SINGH )

(a) There are manned level crossings having traffic density of 14790 & 33436 Train Vehicle Units. A level crossing becomes due for replacement by Road Over/Road Under Bridge on cost sharing basis when traffic density crosses one lakh TVUs.No, Sir.

(b) & (c) Does not arise.

(d) Traffic at the level crossings of Bamnia & Meghnagar at Km.609/10-12 & 574/26-28 is merely 14790 & 33436 TVUs (Train Vehicle Units: A unit obtained by multiplying the number of road vehicles trains with the number of trains passing over the level crossing during 24 hours) respectively. Hence, these level crossings do not qualify for replacement by road over/road under bridge on cost sharing basis under extant rules. State Govt. has also not sponsored any proposal for their construction on `Deposit` terms.

(e) Does not arise.
