Question : Central Government Sponsored Schemes

(a) the details of Central Government sponsored schemes for promotion of tourism and development of tourist places being implemented at present by this Ministry;
(b) the quantum of funds allocated and disbursed for the schemes and percentage of utilization of funds in these schemes during the last five years along with the details, scheme-wise and State/UT-wise, and
(c) the number of tourist places developed during the above said period?

(a) and (b): Ministry of Tourism implements only one Centrally Sponsored Scheme namely ‘Safe Tourist Destination for Women’ that aims to improve the safety and security of women. The Safe Tourist Destination for Women Scheme is implemented under the Nirbhaya Fund created by the Government. The Ministry of Tourism has approved the proposal received from the State Government of Madhya Pradesh as part of the above scheme. The quantum of funds allocated and disbursed for the scheme and percentage of utilization of funds in this scheme are:

(c): Ministry of Tourism implements the following major Central Sector Schemes for the development of tourism in the country:

i. Integrated Development of Tourist Circuits around Specific Themes – Swadesh Darshan Scheme
ii. National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)

The details of the projects sanctioned under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD Schemes to different States/Union Territories is given at Annexure.
