Question : KISHORI SHAKTI YOJANA



(a) the number of projects sanctioned and operational along with the number of beneficiaries under Kishori Shakti Yojana, State-wise including Chhattisgarh;

(b) the funds sanctioned, released and utilized by the State Government during each of the last three years and the current year under the Scheme, State-wise;

(c) whether the Union Government has noticed that some State Governments have not utilized the sanctioned funds under the said scheme during the said period;

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(e) the steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): The number of projects sanctioned and operational along with the number of beneficiaries under Kishori Shakti Yojana, State-wise including Chhattisgarh is given in Annexure-1.

(b): State-wise, funds released and utilized by the State Government during each of the last three years and the current year under the Scheme is at Annexure-2.

(c) & (d): Some State Governments/ UT Administration have not fully utilized the sanctioned funds under the said scheme during the said period, States are requested from time to time to implement the scheme effectively in accordance with the guidelines. The releases under the scheme KSY are being made taking into consideration the savings available with the States/UTs.

(e): Ministry of Women and Child Development reviewed the schemes for adolescent girls of the Ministry viz. Kishori Shakti Yojana and Nutrition Programme for Adolescent Girls, and introduced a comprehensive scheme for empowerment of adolescent girls namely Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls – Sabla on pilot basis in the year 2010. The scheme aims at all-round development of adolescent girls of 11-18 years (with a focus on all out-of-school AGs). With the launch of Sabla, Kishori Shakti Yojana is being phased out. At present, KSY has been replaced by Sabla in 205 districts and is being implemented as before in remaining districts of the country.
