Question : SBI LOAN SCHEME FOR SELF EMPLOYMENT IN ORISSA



(a) whether the State Bank of India has agreed to extend self-employment loans to one lakh eligible unemployed persons in Orissa;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the terms and conditions on which the loan is likely to be provided to them;

(d) the rate of interest to be charged on the loans;

(e) whether any other Bank has come forward with similar offer in any part of the country; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PAWAN KUMAR BANSAL)

(a), (b), (c) & (d) : State Bank of India(SBI) has reported that it has agreed to extend loans to provide employment to one lakh unemployed persons in Orissa under the various existing schemes of the bank and rate of interest would be charged as applicable to the schemes under which finances are made available.

(e) & (f) : Other banks do not appear to have reported about such offer. However, targets are generally set for banks in the State Level Bankers` Committee meetings under various Self Employment Generation Schemes.
