Question : PM S VISIT TO USA



(a) whether the Prime Minister is likely to visit USA and other foreign countries in the current year;

(b) if so, the complete details thereof;

(c) the agenda prepared for discussion with USA and the areas identified for bilateral cooperation with each country;

(d) the manner in which it would be beneficial for the country; and

(e) the present status of opening of two consulates in USA ?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SMT. PRENEET KAUR)

(a) & (b) Hon’ble Prime Minister is likely to pay an official visit to Belgium on December 9-10, 2010 for the India-European Union Summit and for a bilateral visit to Belgium. He is also likely to be on a bilateral visit to Germany on December 11, 2010. As of date no other visits of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to foreign countries are planned in 2010.

(c) Bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual concern would be discussed with the leaders of the European Union, Belgium and Germany.

(d) The visits will deepen the partnership that India enjoys with the European Union, Belgium and Germany to mutual benefit.

(e) Required modalities are being completed for the opening of a Consulate in Atlanta in 2011.
