Question : ITIS IN BACKWARD AREAS



(a) whether the Government has any proposal to set up new Industrial Training Institutes or vocational training centres in the backward areas of the country including Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh and Western Rajasthan;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the funds sanctioned and released by the Government for the purpose, Sate / UT –wise;

(c) the time by which the said projects are likely to be completed; and

(d) the other steps taken by the Government for the eradication of unemployment in the country?

MINISTER OF STATE (IC) FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SHRI BANDARU DATTATREYA)

(a): Government has formulated following schemes for establishment of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 17 States and Skill Development Centres (SDCs) in 9 States:

(i) Skill Development in 34 Districts Affected by Left Wing Extremism; and

(ii) Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in NE States & Sikkim.

The scheme at (i) covers 34 left wing affected districts in 9 States and the scheme at (ii) covers 8 Northeastern States including Sikkim.

(b): The details of the schemes and State-wise breakup of fund sanctioned and released are given in Annexure-I.

(c): The scheme “Skill Development in 34 Districts Affected by Left Wing Extremism” will be completed within 31st March, 2016 and the scheme “Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in NE States & Sikkim” will be completed within 31st March, 2017.

(d): Government of India has been making constant efforts through normal growth process and implementing various employment generation programmes like Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) run by Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) scheme run by Ministry of Rural Development and National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) run by Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation.

Government has launched various skill development schemes through 21 Ministries (Annex-II) to enhance the employability if the youth.
