Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI R. VELU )

(a) to (c) : Yes, Sir. A survey for construction of new broad gauge rail line between Sambhal and Gajraula was completed in October, 2001. As per survey report, the cost of construction of 43.32 kms.long line has been assessed at Rs. 105.06 crore with a rate of return as (-) 18.41%. Due to heavy throwforward of ongoing projects, acute constraint of resources and unremunerative nature of the line, it was not considered feasible to take up this work.
