Question : Status of PMGSY

(a) the current status of implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the country;

(b) the details of roads built under the Yojana during the last five years, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government is planning for the next phase of PMGSY; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): As per the available information, out of 1, 78, 184 habitations as per Census,2001 identified for coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), 1,71,655 habitations have been found feasible. Of 1,71,655 eligible and feasible habitations, 1,66, 209 habitations have been connected through all-weather roads as on 30th June, 2019, including 16,086 habitations connected by various State Governments using their own resources. Since inception till 30th June, 2019, a total of 6,01,779 Km road has been completed under the various interventions/verticals of the Scheme.

(b): The road length built under the Yojana during the last five years is given at Annexure.

(c) & (d): The Government has approved phase-III of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for consolidation of Through Routes and Major Rural Links connecting habitations, inter-alia, to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Higher Secondary Schools and Hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs. 80,250 crore. The Government is taking steps for implementation of phase-III of PMGSY.
