Question : Woman Employment in MGNREGS

(a) whether the pace of providing employment to women under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has slowed down in rural areas during the last few years;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) the number of women workers provided employment under this scheme during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise/UT-wise;

(d) whether the Government proposes to provide regular/permanent employment to women keeping in view the declining tendency of women participation under MGNREGS;

(e) if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the remedial measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)&(b): The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Mahatma Gandhi NREGS) is a demand driven wage employment programme. The rate of participation of women in Mahatma Gandhi NREGS during the last three years and current year is above the statutory requirement of 1/3rd women participation. The details in this regard are as under:
