Question : Vacancies in Labour Courts

(a)whether some posts of presiding officers and judges are lying vacant in various Labour Courts and Tribunals in the country including North Eastern States;
(b)if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c)the time by which these posts are likely to be filled up?

(a) to (c): As per the provisions of Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, the Central Government has set up twenty-two (22) Central Government Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Courts (CGIT-cum-LCs) in various states for resolution of industrial disputes arising in Central Sphere. Out of these, two CGIT-cum-LCs one at Mumbai and the second at Kolkata also function as National Industrial Tribunals (NITs). A list of vacancy position of Presiding Officer in CGIT-cum-LCs, is at Annexure.
As per prescribed procedure, the Ministry has already initiated the process for filling up the post Presiding Officers at CGIT-cum-Labour Courts.
