Question : BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA



(a) whether the national conference of the Bar Council of India was held recently;

(b) if so, the details and outcome thereof;

(c) whether election to elect members in the Bar Council of Delhi have been held; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) and (b) : Yes, Madam. The Bar Council of India has informed that National Conference of the BCI was held on 21st and 22nd March, 2015 at Kovallam, Kerala to discuss elaborately on the following schemes:-

1. Stipend for Junior Lawyers and establishing lawyers academy in the State Bar Council.

2. Comparative study of State Bar Council’s welfare schemes running in concerned State Bar Councils.

3. A uniform proposal for advocates on Group Insurance, Mediclaim and Pension Schemes.

A resolution was passed that all the schemes proposed in the conference may be sent to the Union Government as well as to the State Bar Councils with a request to grant regular funds to implement the schemes proposed in the conference.

(c) and (d) : No, Madam. On a request from the Bar Council of India, the term of the Bar Council of Delhi has been extended for a period of six months beyond 29.12.2014.
