Question : POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP TO OBCs

(a) whether the Karnataka Government has submitted a proposal to the Union Government for seeking financial assistance under the Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship to Other Backward Class (OBC) students during 2009-10 to release Rs.6 crore to OBC studetns;

(b) if so, whether the Union Government has considered the proposal of the State Government; and

(c) if so, the time by which the financial assistance, as sought by the Government, is likely to be released?

(a) to (c) Yes Sir, State Government of Karnataka had sought an amount of Rs. 600.00 lakhs under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC students during 2009-10. Central assistance of Rs. 445.57 lakhs was released to the State Government during 2009-10 after adjusting unspent balance of Rs. 154.43 lakh from the finacial year 2008-09.
