Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SHRI K.CHANDRA SEKHAR RAO)

(a) Yes, Sir;

(b) ILO is working with the Employers` and Workers` Organisations to provide modest income-generating activities including skill training for the vulnerable groups in the Tsunami affected areas of Southern India. One such activity was taken up with a rural workers` trade union `Indian National Rural Labour Federation (INRLF)` in Kalpakkam near Chennai. 100 women have been trained in making of incence stick (agarbati). Another batch of 75 women is likely to take training from the first week of May 2005. Internal resources of ILO were also reprogrammed to support small-scale quick impact initiatives.
