Question : REDUCTION OF FLIGHTS TO JAIPUR JODHPUR AND UDAIPUR



(a) whether the Indian Airlines has reduced its flights to Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur which are the major tourist destinations in the country;

(b) if so, whether the Government are contemplating to re-introduce daily flights to these places; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION (SHRI SHARAD YADAV)

(a), (b) and (c): Due to loss of one Boeing 737 aircraft in an air accident in Patna on 17th July, 2000, and the resultant reduction in the available capacity, the flights operating through Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur had been restructured. The frequency of operation on Mumbai/Udaipur/Mumbai routes had been reduced from 14 to 7 flights per week and on Mumbai/Jaipur/Mumbai routes from 10 to 7 flights per week w.e.f. 8th August, 2000.

The frequency of operation to/from Jodhpur ex-Mumbai and Udaipur had been increased from 4 to 7 flights per week and from Delhi and Jaipur from 3 to 7 flights per week. In the Winter Schedule effective 29th October, 2000, the frequency of operation between Delhi/Udaipur and Delhi/Jaipur has been increased from earlier 7 flights per week to 10 flights per week.
