Question : SPECIAL PLAN ASSISTANCE TO ASSAM



(a) whether the Government has decided to provide Special Plan Assistance to Assam for flood damage repair and infrastructure development during the current financial year;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by when the said funds are likely to be released?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): During the Annual Plan 2004-05, Government of Assam has been allotted Rs.22.00 crores as Special Plan Assistance and Rs.218.00 crores as One-Time Additional Central Assistance for reconstruction of flood damaged infrastructure. Government of Assam has recently submitted a Reconstruction Plan, which includes reconstruction of flood damaged infrastructure (roads and bridges, educational institutions, Government buildings, etc.), flood control measures and reconstruction of flood damaged irrigation and water supply schemes. The Reconstruction Plan is being examined in the Planning Commission.

(c): Funds have been allocated and will be released during the current financial year.
