(a) the details of Handicraft Clusters established in the country under the Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme (CHCDS) and their financial performance/condition;

(b) the details of pending proposals with the Ministry for the establishment of new Handicrafts Clusters in the country including Tamil Nadu; and the action being taken by the Government for their early disposal; and

(c) the details of long term policy of the Government on handicrafts sector and promotion of Handicrafts Clusters the country?

(b): One fresh proposal for establishment of new Handicraft cluster under Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme from Telengana State Handicraft Development Corporation Limited is under process. However no proposal from Tamil Nadu for development/establishment of new handicraft cluster under Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme is lying pending with the Government.

(c): The Government is implementing various comprehensive schemes under National Handicraft Development Programme (NHDP) for promotion/development of handicraft sector in the country. Government wishes to focus on creation of cluster as per requirement under the schemes of NHDP in various states which will have design development and trainers component. Intention is to reach good number of artisans through this cluster approach and enhance the value of their products.
