Question : COMPLAINTS AGAINST WATER BODIES RESTORATION PROJECTS



(a) whether widespread complaints have been received from places where the Water Bodies Restoration and Management projects were undertaken;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(c) the remedial steps taken by the Government on the said complaints?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES (SHRI JAI PRAKASH NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) to (c) Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India approved a Pilot Scheme viz. `National Project for Repair, Renovation and Restoration of Water Bodies directly linked to Agriculture` in January 2005 at the cost of Rs.300.00 crore to be shared by the Centre and State in the ratio of 3:1 for the remaining period of X Plan. It was a State sector scheme implemented with the help of District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) under the State Governments. The complaints about the scheme are forwarded to the State Governments for necessary action.
