(a) whether the Government has taken/proposes to take steps to prepare a comprehensive programme
for educational and economic development of the people belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBCs)
and Scheduled Castes (SCs) category;
(b) if so, the details thereof.;
(c) whether the Governmnet has any proposal to extend scholarships to overseas OBC students for their
studies in foreign universities; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefore?

(a) & (b): Government has adopted a multipronged approach for educational and economic development
of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Major Schemes being implemented for educational and economic development of SCs and OBCs are given
at Annexure. Apart from the above the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation
(NSFDC), and National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) provide financial
and other support to eligible SC and OBC beneficiaries respectively for taking up various income
generating activities.
(c) & (d): Presently, no such proposal is under consideration.
