Question : NATIONAL HIGHWAY PROJECTS IN KARNATAKA



(a) whether the Government of Karnataka has forwarded some road projects for approval regarding Declaration of four new National Highways- Jewargi-Lingasgur-Sindhnur-Bellary Road, Dharwad-Ramanagaram Road, Doddaballapur-Kolar road and connecting NH 218 to NH-63 ( Bagalkot-Bhanapur) and upgradation of NH-48 (four-laning from Nelamangala to Mangalore and upgradation of NH-4 ( four-laning from KR Puram to Kolar Border);

(b) if so, the present status of the proposals;

(c) the details of the projects approved so far and those pending for clearance;

(d) the total amount allocated for these projects; and

(e) the time by which the pending proposals are likely to be cleared.?

(a) to (e) The Government of Karnataka has submitted proposals for declaration of Jewargi-Lingasgur-Sindhnur-Bellary, Dharwad-Ramanagaram, Doddaballapur -Kolar and Bagalkot-Badami-Yelburga-Kunkur Roads as National Highways. At present emphasis is being given for development of roads already declared as National Highways instead of declaring more roads as National Highways. Hence, these proposals have not been approved.
Upgradation of only Nelamangala - Hassan Section of NH 48 and K.R.Puram - Kolar Section of NH 4 have been included for four laning on BOT basis under National Highway Development Project Phase -IIIA. The preparation of the Detailed Project Reports for these projects have been taken u.
