(a) Whether the Government has set up any target of having 90,000
shuttleless looms by 2010 to achieve production of 90 billion meters
by 2010;
(b) If so, the details thereof; and
(c) The steps taken to achieve the target and to modernise the powerloom
sector?

(c) For modernisation of the powerloom sector, Government has launched
Technology Upgrdation Fund Scheme (TUFS) under which 5 per cent interest
subsidy on bank loan is proposed. An additional option has been given to
decentralised powerloom sector to avail 20 per cent Credit Linked Capital Subsidy
(CLCS) in lieu of 5 per cent interest reimbursement. Government has also set up
Computer Aided Design Centres to facilitate creation of improved and new designs
in the production of textiles.
