Question : Scheme for Seaplane Service

(a) whether the Government has any scheme to operate seaplane under Sagarmala project;
(b) if so, the details and the status thereof along with the time frame set and the amount of budgetary allocation made by the Government in this regard;
(c) the State-wise details of the places across the country including Rajasthan identified in the first phase for operation of seaplane; and
(d) the details of revenue estimated to be generated under this project?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *151 TO BE ANSWERED ON 11TH FEBRUARY, 2021 RAISED BY SHRI CHANDRA PRAKASH JOSHI AND SHRI MANOJ TIWARI REGARDING “SCHEME FOR SEAPLANE SERVICE”.


(a) & (b) Sagarmala Development Company Limited (SDCL), a CPSE under MoPSW has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) for Seaplane service whereby Airline Operators were invited to undertake joint development and operation in India. No separate budget has been provided as of now for this initiative. The objective of the EoI is to assess the interest of the airline operators for joint development and operation of the seaplane services with SDCL.

(c) & (d) The exact places for seaplane operation as well as estimation of the revenue will depend on techno-commercial viability and interest of airline operators for each location.
