Question : Resettlement of Employees of Closed Mills


(a) whether the Government proposes to revive the mills of National Textile Corporation;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the steps proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard;

(c) whether the Government proposes to implement the package of NTC mills of Maharashtra;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government proposes to implement any resettlement scheme for the existing employees and reopens of said mills; and

(f) if so, the details thereof along with the steps proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC) has revived its 23 Mills under Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) approved Modified revivalScheme-2008(MS-08) including set up of 3 Green fields Mills in the year 2009-10. NTC has closed 78 unviable mills for the closure of mills under Industrial Dispute Act (ID Act),there is no mandate for their revival.

(c) & (d): NTC has revived 5 Mills in Maharashtra under MS- 08 including one green field milli.e. Finlay Mills, Achalpur. There is no fresh proposal to revive closed mills in Maharashtra.

(e) & (f): There are no existing employees in the closed mills. Therefore, no resettlement schemeis proposed for closed mills.
