Question : Under 17 Football World Cup 2017

(a) whether India will be hosting under 17 Football World Cup in 2017 and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the details of the venues decided for the sports event;
(c) whether the infrastructure of all the venues comply with the international standards in order to conduct this event;
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the steps taken by the Government to improve them; and
(e) the details of the funds allotted for organizing this event?

(a) & (b): FIFA Under 17 World Cup will be held in India in October, 2017. Twenty four teams, including host India, will participate in the event. The venues shortlisted for holding this event are Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai & New Delhi. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has identified 30 players and intensive training is being imparted to them in India and abroad.
(c) to (e): Some of these stadia have deficiencies, the Government has allocated an amount of Rs. 95 crores for their up-gradation and organizing the event. Apart from this, an amount of Rs. 25 crores has been kept aside for meeting contingencies, if any.
