Question : Tax Evasion by Doctors

(a) whether the Government has taken note that the doctors doing private practices in the country, are charging exorbitant consultation fee for the services rendered by them and are not giving any receipt to the patients in lieu thereof and thereby avoiding the GST worth billions of rupees which in turn causes direct loss to the Government Exchequer;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the estimated loss caused to the Government Exchequer on this count; and
(c) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to put an end to this malpractice?

(a) No Sir. However, it is submitted that health care services by a clinical establishment, an authorized medical practitioner or para-medics are exempted under GST.
(b) & (c) Does not arise as per answer to part (a) above.
