(a) whether the Railways has formulated any scheme for afforestation along both the sides of railway tracks passing through cities;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether this scheme has been finalised;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the details of the progress made in this regard so far?

(a) to (e): Ministry of Railways has finalised a model agreement in consultation with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) to be entered between Zonal Railways and respective State Forest Department for plantation of trees on Railway land along both the sides of railway track and station yards without transferring the ownership of the land in favour of State Forest Department. The agreement has already been finalized/executed with 9 States by Zonal Railways.
