MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS (SHRI DHARMENDRA PRADHAN)
(a) Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) authorizes entities to develop Natural Gas Distribution Network as per PNGRB Act, 2006 and the Regulations notified thereunder. PNGRB identifies the Geographical Areas (GAs) for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network depending on the natural gas pipeline connectivity/natural gas availability and techno-commercial viability. At present, 94 Geographical Areas (GAs) across 23 States/Union Territories (UTs) are operational. In order to expand the coverage of CGD network, PNGRB has launched 9th round of CGD bidding on 8th May, 2018 and received bids for 86 GAs covering 174 districts spread over 22 States and Union Territories (UTs) in the country. Details are at Annexure-I.
(b) Details of authorized ongoing gas pipelines in the country including Maharashtra are at Annexure-II.
(c) PNGRB identifies the GAs for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network depending on the natural gas pipeline connectivity/natural gas availability and techno-commercial viability. The 9th CGD bidding round does not cover Jalgaon.
(d) Jagdishpur -Haldia -Bokaro-Dhamra natural gas pipeline (JHBDPL) is being constructed as per schedule and as per the current progress, there is no delay.
The Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline does not pass through the state of Maharashtra. Following major plants/projects in Jharkhand and Bihar will be getting natural gas through this pipeline:
• Jharkhand:
(i) Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited, Sindri,
(ii) Steel Authority of India Limited, Bokaro,
(iii) Central Coalfield Limited, Ranchi,
(iv) Jindal Steel & Power, Ranchi,
(v) City Gas Distribution, starting with the city of Ranchi and Jamshedpur
• Bihar:
(i) Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited (HFCL), Barauni
(ii) Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Barauni
(iii) City Gas Distribution, starting with the city of Patna
