Question : REST ROOM FACILITIES FOR TRAIN DRIVERS



(a) whether the drivers of passenger trains as well as goods trains throughout the country stays in the railway running rooms and retiring rooms for 8 to 12 hours after taking trains from Head Office to its destination;

(b) if so, whether sufficient number of rest rooms are available for the drivers in all the running rooms in the country, as the same sort of facility is provided to the pilots of Air India and Indian Airlines;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Government are contemplating to upgrade the running rooms in the entire country; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. Adequate running room facilities are available all over Zonal Railways for giving rest to drivers.

(c) : Does not arise.

(d) & (e) : There is continuous and continuing effort to upgrade and improve facilities in the running rooms located all over the country.
