(a) whether the Government are aware that the quota allotted in Karnataka Express train for Solapur railway station does not fulfill the requirement of the passengers; and

(b) if so, the action likely to be taken by the Government in this regard?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS ( SHRI DIGVIJAY SINGH )

(a): A few passengers remain on the waiting list.

(b): 2627/2628 New Delhi-Banglore Karnataka Express is a long distance well patronised train. The reservation quotas allotted to various stations are reviewed periodically. Consequently, an additional quota of three sleeper class berths was allotted at Solapur Station by 2628 New Delhi-Banglore Karnataka Express w.e.f. 26.10.1999. As regards, 2627 Banglore-New Delhi Karnataka Express, due to full utilisation of quotas at the existing quota holding stations, it has not been found feasible to enhance the existing quota of 4 AC 2-tier and 26 sleeper class berths available at this station.
