Question : AYUSH Hospitals and Colleges


Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether Department of AYUSH has established/proposes to establish Central Research Institutes (CRIs), Regional Research Institutes (RRIs), Hospitals and Colleges for naturopathy and yoga system like Ayurveda in the country; and

(b) if so, the details and the present status thereof, State/UT-wise?

Answer given by the minister

(a) & (b): The details of the Central Research Institute for Yoga and Naturopathy(CRIYN) are as below:

(i) A CRIYN has been set-up at Rohini, New Delhi.

(ii) First phase construction of two CRIYN at Nagmangala (Karnataka) and Jhajjar (Haryana) has been completed. The Government has further approved second phase construction of the building at Nagmangala and Jhajjar and up-gradation of the institute at Rohini at a cost of Rs. 51.67 Crores.

(iii) Land measuring 20 Acres has been obtained from the State of Odisha for construction of another CRIYN.

Further, under National AYUSH Mission(NAM), Government of India has provided Grants-in-aid during 2014-15 to the States of Andhra Pradesh, Manipur & West Bengal for setting up of 50 bedded integrated AYUSH hospitals which include Yoga and Naturopathy systems.

In addition, Development of AYUSH Educational Institutions under the NAM provides for grants-in-aid to AYUSH Educational Institutions including Yoga and Naturopathy Institutes for infrastructure development. Under the said scheme, there is a provision of grant in aid of Rs.3 crore for Under Graduate (UG) Institutions and Rs.4 crore for Post Graduate (PG) Institutions of AYUSH for infrastructural development. Further, there is a provision of grants-in-aid of Rs.10.50 crore for setting up of new AYUSH Educational Institutions/Colleges in the states where such Institution does not exists in Government Sector. This grant is supplementary to the State contribution to complete the project.
