Question : Upliftment of Weaker Sections

(a) the details of various projects being implemented by the Government for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society;

(b) the number of persons benefited thereunder during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the Government has reviewed the performance of various ongoing schemes for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes considering the present status of these reserved categories;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the efforts made by the Government for better implementation of the said schemes?

(a): The details of various projects/schemes being implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for the upliftment of weaker sections , is given at Annexure-I.
(b): The details of the beneficiaries covered State-wise are given at Annexure –II.
(c) & (d): The Department has developed mechanisms for Review, Evaluation & Outcome Based Monitoring of the performance of the schemes/programmes being implemented through the various agencies. The scheme-wise details are given at Annexure-III.
(e): The Department periodically reviews implementations of the schemes through meetings, Video Conferences, field visits etc. Further, for the Post-Matric Scholarship and Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for 9th and 10th, provisions have been made for online end to end processing, verification of eligibility credentials through online transaction to ensure greater transparency, control duplicity and wrongful claims by institutions. Various awareness camps and Skill Training Programmes are organized regularly. The UCs against released funds are also being received timely implying thereby that funds are being utilized by the concerned for the purpose for which it was given.
