????? ????? ?????? (??. ????? ?????)

(a) At present, 28 Sainik Schools are functioning in the country. State wise list of the Sainik Schools including Kerala alongwith the details of boy and girl students enrolled is given in Annexure-I.

(b) Sainik Schools admit cadets in Classes VI & IX. Their age should be 10-12 years for Class VI and 13-15 years for Class IX as on 31st March of the year in which admission is sought. Admissions are made strictly in the order of the merit on the basis of an entrance examination held once a year followed by Medical fitness according to medical standards prescribed for entry to National Defence Academy. As regards Army Public Schools, these are unaided Co-ed Schools established in Military garrisons to provide education to wards of service personnel. These schools are affiliated to CBSE through Army Welfare Education Society under the Societies Act XXI of 1860. These schools essentially cater to the migratory requirement of the Armed Forces personnel and provide seamless education by facilitating midsession admissions. They do not have a selection system like Sainik Schools. They are not intended to be feeder schools to guide the students to join the Armed Forces.

(c) & (d): 6 Girls students have been admitted in Sainik School, Chhingchhip, Mizoram from the academic session 2018-19 on Pilot Project basis. Regarding the admission of girl students in respect of the Sainik Schools across the country, decision will be taken after reviewing the outcome of the above Pilot Project.

(e) & (f): At present there are 19 proposals for establishing Sainik Schools from various States/UTs Government. No proposal has been received from State Govt of Tamil Nadu for opening of Sainik School. List of proposals is at Annexure-II.
