Question : NATIONAL DATABASE ON BACKWARD SECTION



(a) whether any database in respect of socially and economically backward section exists in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, whether Government proposes to prepare a database to identify such categories for successful implementation of various developmental schemes;

(d) if so, the details thereof including the criteria for such identification; and

(e) the total expenditure likely to be incurred in this regard?

(a) & (b) Database at national level in respect of socially and economically backward section is not available in the country. However, a National Data Bank for Socio-Religious Categories with available reports from National Sample Surveys, Population Censuses etc. has been created in the Ministrys website (http://mospi.gov.in).

(c) to (e) The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has no proposal at present to prepare such a database.
