(a) whether any caustic soda plant has been set up by National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in Gujarat, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether NALCO proposes to set up such plants in other States of the country including Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) NALCO has formed a Joint Venture company with Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Limited (GACL) named “GACL-NALCO Alkalies & Chemicals Private Limited” on 4th December, 2015 for setting up of 2.7 LTPA caustic soda plant and 130 MW captive power plant at Dahej, Gujarat. Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project has been prepared. Both NALCO and GACL Boards have approved the project in December, 2016. Activities like transfer of land, selection of Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) developer for captive power plant, selection of technology for Caustic Soda Plant, Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) for obtaining Environmental Clearance etc. are underway.
(b)& (c) As of now, NALCO has no plan to set up such plants in other States of the country including Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.
