Question : FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR FILMS



(a) the details of the films for which the Government provides financial assistance during each of the last three years and the current year, film-wise;

(b) the criteria for providing the said assistance;

(c) the names of the person who received the said assistance; and

(d) the number of films completed out of the above and the places where were screened?

(a): The Government provides funds under the Plan Scheme “Film Production in various regional languages” to National Film Development Corporation Ltd.(NFDC) for production of films in various regional languages and films in Hindi/English languages. Under the Plan Scheme, for the 11th Five Year Plan, Rs. 36.00 crores has been earmarked for production/co-production by NFDC for 15 feature films in regional languages and 3 films in Hindi/English languages. Out of Rs. 36.00 crores, Rs. 19.34 crores has been disbursed to NFDC till date. The details of films, which has been completed by NFDC so far with the funds provided are given in Annexure.

(b): The criteria for providing said assistance is as per NFDC’s production guidelines. This includes Bye-laws and Regulations for the regulation of the Corporation’s Scheme for Film Production and related activities and is available on the website of NFDC i.e. www.nfdcindia.com.

(c): Does not arise. The NFDC does not extend financial assistance to individuals.

(d): The details of films completed with the fund provided to NFDC and the places where these films have been screened are given in Annexure.
