Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has taken any initiative to take the benefits of research in Indian Medical System to the level of clinical trials;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years; and

(c) the details of such institutions included in the clinical trials of research in Ayurveda, State-wise including West Bengal?

(a) & (b): Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is conducting clinical trials for validation of classical Ayurvedic formulations to generate evidence of clinical efficacy & safety in diseases of national importance through its institutes /research centres across the country. During the last three years, CCRAS has completed 34 Intra Mural Research (IMR) projects of clinical research.

Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) has initiated research on various disease conditions in Yoga & Naturopathy to the level of clinical trials. CCRYN is running a scheme of establishing Collaborative Research Centres (CRC) to undertake Collaborative Research with leading Medical as well as Yoga and Naturopathy Institutions. CCRYN has undertaken 21 Research projects during last three years.

Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) has been engaged in Pilot study Research which has benefited public and has taken it to the next level of clinical trials. CCRS has completed 4 such clinical projects and has been engaged in 3 clinical projects.

(c ): Central Ayurveda Research Institute for Drug Development, Kolkata is included in the clinical trials of research in Ayurveda in West Bengal. The State-wise list of such institutions is at Annexure.
