Question : Export of Raw Jute

(a) the details of export data of raw jute with prices for the last five years;

(b) the acres of land cultivated for jute, State-wise for last five years;

(c) the year-wise price per jute bag and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bag by Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the last five years;

(d) the details of jute produced, cultivated and procured, State-wise;

(e) the total number of HDPE plastic bags made in India and State-wise data of the same; and

(f) the transportation price of jute from West Bengal to Andhra Pradesh?

(a): The Export data of raw jute with its prices for the last five years is at Annexure-I.

(b) & (d): The details of land cultivated, jute produced and procured at MSP are at Annexure-II. The raw jute is not procured by the State. It is procured by traders on the market price and supply to Jute Mills. In addition to, Jute Corporation of India Ltd. has the mandate to purchase raw jute whatever quantity is offered by the farmers at MSP.

(c): Jute Commissioner declares provisional price of B-Twill jute bags of 50 kg capacity on monthly basis. The details of jute bag price of the last five years are at Annexure-III. The price of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bag by Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the last five years is at Annexure-IV.

(e): No such data is maintained.

(f): M/s Jute Balers Association and M/s A.M. Mair & Co Pvt. Ltd. publish the quotation price of raw jute including transportation charges for Ex-South Bengal and Others for procurement by jute mills. No separate data for transportation price of raw jute from West Bengal to other states including Andhra Pradesh is maintained.
