Question : New Kendriya Vidyalayas

(a) whether the Government is aware that a large number of boys-girls in rural areas get
deprived of better quality education of Kendriya Vidyalayas each year;
(b) if so, whether the Government proposes/is considering any proposal to set up
Kendriya Vidyalayas in each district (Tehsil-in rural areas) of the country;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government proposes to convert Government schools into Kendriya
Vidyalayas to improve the quality of education in Government schools;
(e) if so, the details thereof; and
(f) the details of the proposals received from various States in this regard?

(a) The Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are opened primarily to cater to the educational
needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence
personnel by providing a common programme of education.Proposals for opening of
new KVs are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the
Government of India/State Governments / Union Territories Administrations thereby
committing resources for setting up a new KV as well as the availability of necessary
sanction of the Government.
(b) No such proposal is under consideration at present.
(c) Does not arise.
(d) No such proposal is under consideration at present.
