Question : Funds Allocated for Tourism Sector

(a) the details of schemes being run by the Government for the promotion of tourism;
(b) the names of places in Haryana and North Eastern States including Assam which have been selected as tourist spots and the places where development related works are being undertaken;
(c) the details of funds allocated and released by the Government to Haryana and North Eastern States including Assam along with the details of funds spent during the last three years;
(d) whether the funds has been spent within the time limit and if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether any proposal has been received by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for the promotion of tourism along with the details of funds released to BTC during the last three years for the promotion of tourism and the names of such places where these funds have been utilized?

(a): Development and promotion is primary responsibility of State Govt./UTs. However, Ministry of Tourism undertakes promotional activities in domestic and international markets through its schemes of ‘Domestic Promotion & Publicity including Hospitality (DPPH)’ and Overseas Promotion & Publicity Including Market Development Assistance (OPMD). Under these schemes, Ministry of Tourism promotes India as a holistic destination under the Incredible India brand-line. As part of its on-going activities, the Ministry releases print, electronic, online and outdoor media campaigns in the international and domestic markets, to promote various tourism destinations and products of the country.

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) under the Overseas Promotion and Publicity (OPP) Scheme promotes India with the objective of increasing the visibility of India''s tourism products and destinations in the overseas markets and to promote India as a preferred tourist destination vis-à-vis other competing destinations through various promotional and marketing measures. Salient features of the Scheme include, direct promotion through eight India Tourism offices in the overseas markets, Centralised Global Campaign and extending Marketing Development Assistance to service providers in the country for promotion of India in the overseas markets

(b, c & d)): Details of the projects sanctioned /released under Swadesh Darshan/PRASHAD/Projects Sanctioned under Assistance to Central Agencies Scheme/Project sanctioned under DPPH Scheme for fairs, Festivals and Shopping Festivals to Haryana, North Eastern States including Assam are given in the Annexure-I.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism under its schemes of Swadesh Darshan, PRASHAD and Assistance to Central Agencies provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to State Governments/UT Administrations/Central Agencies for development of tourism infrastructure in the country including Haryana. Submission of project proposal by the State Government’s/Union Territory Administrations and its sanctioning is a continuous process. The projects under the scheme are identified by the respective State Governments / Union Territory Administrations & then taken up for development in consultation with the State Governments/ Union Territory Administrations and are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable Detailed Project Reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier.

(e): No Such proposal has been received by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for the promotion of tourism.

Based on the proposals received from the State Government/Union Territory, the following projects have been sanctioned under the Swadesh Darshan, PRASHAD and Assistance to Central Agencies, Domestic Promotion Publicity and Hospitality Scheme for fairs & festivals and Shopping Festivals to Haryana, North Eastern States including Assam are placed at Annexure-I.
