Question : Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014

(a) the details of the provisions and assurances made to the State of Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 which have been fulfilled or completed by the Government so far;

(b) the reasons for non-fulfilling of the remaining assurances;

(c) whether any deadline/target has been prescribed in the said Act for fulfilment of all the assurances;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the action taken/proposed to be taken for fulfilment of all the assurances by the prescribed deadline alongwith the details of the provisions and assurances of the said Act pending due to disputes between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana?

STATEMENT IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 25* FOR ANSWER ON 20.07.2021

(a) to (d): A large number of provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (APR) Act, 2014 have been implemented and the remaining provisions of the APR Act, 2014 are at various stages of implementation. Some of the provisions relating to infrastructure projects and educational institutions have long gestation period for which a time period of ten years has been prescribed in the Act.

(e): The Ministry of Home Affairs reviews the progress of implementation of the various provisions of the Act from time to time with Ministries/Departments concerned as well as representatives of Government of Andhra Pradesh and Government of Telangana. So far, 25 such review meetings have been held. Efforts are made to build consensus between the two States to resolve bilateral issues amicably.
