Question : Take Home Ration

(a) the details of contents of Take Home Ration (THR) that are being provided to children below three years and to pregnant and lactating mothers across the country;
(b) the details of the budgetary allocation for this scheme during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether the Government has conducted any study regarding its quality and for its proper implementation, if so, the details and the outcome thereof;
(d) whether the Government has received any representations or complaints from any stakeholders regarding improvement in ingredients of THR; and
(e) if so, the details thereof along with the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) Under Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, children below 3 years and pregnant women and lactating mothers are provided age appropriate Take Home Ration (THR) as per the nutritional standards given in Schedule II of National Food Security Act, 2013. State Governments/UTs are required to provide minimum 300 days of Supplementary food to the beneficiaries in a year.
(b) A Statement showing State/UT-wise funds allocated/released under Supplementary Nutrition Programme under ICDS Scheme during last three years and current year is at Annex-I.

(c) The Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) of this Ministry in collaboration with the State Governments/UTs, carries out periodic checks to ensure prescribed standards with reference to nutritional norms. The States/UTs have also been advised to identify and involve Government Food Analysis Laboratories to get the Supplementary Nutrition samples analyzed.
