STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF THE LOK
SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.14 FOR 04.02.2019 ASKED BY DR. P.K. BIJU
REGARDING FACULTY POSITIONS
(a): Only Central University of Tamil Nadu, Central University of Rajasthan and Central
University of Punjab had advertised for 65, 33 and 60 faculty posts respectively, after issue of
UGC circular dated 5.3.2018 on faculty positions in universities, department-wise. However,
these Universities have withheld the recruitment process, as per the directives of UGC issued
on 19.7.2018 in view of the SLP filed by the Government against the order of High Court of
Allahabad laying down that Department only can be the unit of reservation.
(b) & (c): None of posts so advertised by Central Universities of Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and
Punjab were reserved for SCs/STs as per the revised department-wise roster. However, the
number of posts that would have been reserved for SCs and STs as per the earlier provision
of reservation, are as under:

(d): With a view to protect the interests of SCs, STs and OBCs, it has been decided to file a
review petition in the Supreme Court.
