Question : PREVENTION OF MALARIA



(a) whether the Government has launched schemes for prevention of Malaria in the country including Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated for these schemes during the last three years and the current year; and

(c) the progress made in reducing the Malaria cases in the country including Maharashtra?

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI JAGAT PRAKASH NADDA)

(a): National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme is an ongoing national health programme being imple- mented throughout the country including State of Maharashtra for prevention and control of all vector borne diseases including malaria.

(b): Funds allocated for implementation of NVBDCP during last three years and current year is given below:

(c): Incidence as per reported cases of malaria has decreased from 1.31 million in 2011 to around 1 million cases during the last three years in the country as shown below:

Similarly incidence of malaria in the State of Maharashtra has decreased from 96.6 thousand in 2011 to below 60 thousand during last three years as indicated below:
