Question : VILLAGES ALONG INDO BANGLADESH BORDER



(a) whether in accordance with the Indira-Mujib Agreement of 1974, the South Berubari areas were dissolved and some villages falling under the jurisdiction of Jalpaiguri district were permanently declared as integral part of India;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether these villages are depicted on the Indian map; and

(d) if not, the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (d): In accordance with the Land Boundary Agreement, 1974, India has retained the southern half of South Berubari Union No. 12 and the adjacent enclaves, measuring an area of 2.64 Square miles approximately. This area has become integral part of India.
