Question : Telemedicine Project

(a) whether the RailTel the telecom arm of the Railways, is in talks with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for telemedicine project in the country.

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the manner in which it will provide healthcare services to communities in remote and difficult-to-access locations;

(d) whether any agreement have been signed between the Railways and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in this regard; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which the work on the project is likely to be started?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RCIL), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Railway Ministry has participated in the Request for Proposal (RFP) floated by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for Telemedicine project.

(c): The manner in which health care services will be provided to communities in remote and difficult to access locations is in the domain of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
(d): No, Madam.
