Question : Procurement of Bio-Diesel

(a) whether Oil Marketing Companies(OMCs) have started the procurement of bio-diesel to blend with diesel;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the quantum of bio-diesel in litres procured so far;
(c) whether the higher officers of OMCs are not showing special enthusiasm in procurement of bio-diesel;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto along with the action taken by the Government against such officials in this regard; and
(e) the corrective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b) Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have started the procurement of biodiesel for blending with diesel since August 2015. The quantum of biodiesel procured by the OMCs for blending with diesel during the period August 2015 to December 2018 is 17.37 crore litres.
(c) The quantity of biodiesel procured by the OMCs to blend with diesel has been growing annually. The quantity of biodiesel procured during the period August 2015 to March 2016 was 1.19 crore litres which increased to 8.22 crore litres during the period April 2018 to December 2018.
(d) & (e) Do not arise in view of answer at (c) above.
