Question : HOUSEHOLD SURVEY



(a) whether the Government is aware about the Intensive Household Survey conducted recently to ascertain the details of eighty four lakh families in Telangana;

(b) if so, whether the Government has intervened in the matter; and

(c) if so, the details and the present status thereof including the purpose of such survey and the total funds spent so far in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI HARIBHAI PARATHIBHAI CHAUDHARY)

(a): Yes, Madam. The intensive Household Survey was conducted by the Government of Telengana for 1,01,93,027 households on 19-08-2014.

(b): No Madam. Item No. 69 of List I of Schedule VII to the Constitution deals with the Census. A Household Survey does not fall within the ambit of the census and hence the Central Government has not intervened.

(c): As per information furnished by the Government of Telengana, the whole Household Survey was conducted in a single day. The purpose of the Survey was:

(i) To ascertain the real status of the people of Telengana, with reference to important socio economic parameters;

(ii) For creating a reliable and accurate database in order to facilitate effective implementation fo various Government programmes;

(iii) To ensure that the benefits reach the eligible deserving people.

An amount of Rs. 20 crores, @ Rs. 2 crores for each of the ten Districts of the State was released by the Government of Telengana.
