Question : POWER PROJECTS IN COASTAL AREAS



(a) whether due to several power projects coming up in coastal areas of the Konkan Region of Maharashtra the pollution level has increased considerably affecting the livelihood of fishermen andaffecting mango production;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government received any report in this regard;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the remedial measures taken by theGovernment in this regard?

(a) to (e) : Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has informed that as per the data available with them actual Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) level of the coal based power plants in Konkan region of Maharashtra in the year 2011-12 is well within prescribed limit as given below:
