Question : SHORTAGE OF PHOSPHORIC ACID



(a) whether the shortage of phosphoric acid and other raw material had forced fertiliser units to cut production;

(b) if so the details thereof and ;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to ensure supply of adequate phosphoric acid to these units?

(a) & (b): No sir, the production of Phosphatic fertilizers covered under the Concession Scheme was120.05 lakh MT during the year 2004-05 as against the total production of 117.23 lakh MT of these fertilizers during the year 2003-04.

(c): The import of phosphoric acid is free. The Phosphatic fertiliser manufacturers are procuring phosphoric acid from the international market at the price & terms & conditions negotiated by them with the international suppliers.
