Question : Assessment of MGNREGS

(a) whether a Central team has visited Andhra Pradesh to assess the proper implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of funds sought by Andhra Pradesh during the last four years and the funds released by the Government;

(c) whether release of funds have been delayed during the said period;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reasons for delay on each of such occasion;

(e) whether State has submitted utilisation certificates regularly and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(f) whether the Union Government has received any complaints about the misuse of MGNREGS funds in the said State and if so, the details of the complaints thereof?

(a): Yes, Madam. A central team has visited Andhra Pradesh to assess the proper implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The team assessed some works undertaken by the State of Andhra Pradesh under MGNREGA like construction of road, trenches and farm ponds, percolation tank, Anganwadi centres, bench terracing and land levelling, bore well, coffee & sericulture plantation, rainwater harvesting structure, vermi compost pits, ground water recharge structure etc.

(b): The central fund released under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to Andhra Pradesh during the last four years is given below:

(e): Yes, Madam.

(f): The Ministry, under MGNREGA receives complaints of irregularities including misuse of funds etc. from States/UTs. Since the responsibility of implementation of MGNREGA is vested with the State Governments, all complaints received in the Ministry are forwarded to the concerned State Governments for taking appropriate action including investigation, as per law.
