Question : JAN SADHARAN TRAIN



(a) whether the Railways have laid down any norms for starting Jan-Sadharan Express to connect various parts of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether this train is running only in few States at present;

(d) if so, the details thereof alongwith the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Railways have taken any steps for increasing general coaches in various trains plying through the States of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Jan Sadharan trains are normally fully unreserved trains which are introduced taking into account various factors like traffic justification, public demands, availability of resources and operational feasibility.

(c): No, Madam.

(d): Does not arise.

(e) & (f): Due care is taken to provide adequate number of general bogies for passengers travelling by second class in the trains running over Indian Railways irrespective of states. The number of general class coaches has been increased from four to six in the newly introduced trains except special type trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi trains.
